A.L. Benavides Elementary Honors our Veterans

A.L. Benavides Elementary School honored our veterans by holding a Veteran's Day Ceremony. A veteran's memorabilia walk was introduced this year as a showcase that had not been done before. Relatives of students from A.L.B.E.S. who are veterans were observed in the showcase.

A.L.B.E.S. principal Norma Villarreal-Arellano whose father is a former county commissioner as well as a veteran was honored in this year's veteran's memorabilia showcase. Principal Villarreal expressed that the goal is to instill in our children "Pride in our country and everything that we do". She also says that the display of support today is an example of the effort put forth by our community and school staff that "makes our school as successful as it has been and helps us to soar to high levels". She went on to quote the proverb that "It takes an entire village to educate a child".

A presentation was given at the school by staff and students to pay tribute to our veterans followed by a parade to the San Ygancio Plaza where a gun salute was given.
